Spending my office hours rearranging the new furniture with Seth felt much more productive than just sitting there reading manga scanlations for 2.5 hours. (The Cate office got some nice hand-me-down furniture discarded by a wealthier department that is getting new shiny furniture. It’s better quality than the old desk we had, but our office is small and the new desk is HUGE, so fitting everything took some ingenuity on our part. And muscles. Did I mention that the new desk is HUGE?) I wouldn’t call moving heavy objects fun exactly, but there’s a sense of accomplishment for a job well done. Local readers should come by and investigate sometime. :)
My time in the Cate Main Office is usually eventful enough during the school year, but this summer it’s been understandably slow and boring. When you have about 1/15th the number of residents, you’re not needed nearly as often… Buuuut you still have to sit there for hours so that when someone does need an RA someone’s available. Thus the reading of much manga and staring off into space. At least office time will be more comfortable now with the new setup.
In other news, I think I’m getting a little bit homesick or something. I’m not sad by any means, but I am somewhat twitchy and restless. Perhaps I’ll pop back home next weekend after everyone’s back from 4th of July celebrations…? I honestly don’t remember the last time I was home long enough to actually sleep in my old bed. The last few times I’ve just driven there in the morning, stayed a few hours, and come back to Norman that night. We’ll see what happens.

I have a betta fish! His name is Pez, which is Spanish for fish, but I know people are going to say “Pehz” and not “Paess” so I decided to just call him “Pehz.” (Not like Pez cares how silly humans say his name, anyway.)
He has a pinkish purple body with maroon, purple, white and light blue streaked fins. He is currently swimming around his big glass bowl like a crazed underwater butterfly.

I think I added a little bit too much water for these potatoes to be “steamed”, but the end result will be the same once I drain out some excess.
A round glass casserole dish with lid (microwave safe!) opens up a whole world of culinary possibilities when one lacks a proper kitchen.
EDIT: They were good ^_^

The cheerleaders are screaming again.
Leader: I SAY KITTY YOU SAY CUMMERE!!!*
Leader: KITTY!!!!!!!! 8D!
Group: CUMMERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8D!!!
I’ll be glad when their summer camp is over. They’ve been screaming their way around campus for almost 2 weeks now.
Speaking of kitties, I have this taped to my door. :)
*Cummere = Come here, for those of you that don’t speak Oklahoman

Today my ID card fell off the treadmill while I was working out. I only had 5 more minutes left in my workout, so I just watched the ID fall (rather than trying to catch it and launching myself off the machine), made note of where it fell, and continued exercising. Then the boy on the treadmill next to mine hopped off and, much to my surprise, retrieved my ID for me. I thanked him happily and we both went back to calorie burning.
I am a strong, independent woman and am fully capable of taking care of myself. I can open my own doors, carry my own groceries, and lift my own heavy things. Still, it’s a pleasant and welcome surprise to be treated like a lady on occasion.*
*Seth is quite the gentleman and the exception to the rule of surprise at unusually chivalrous male behavior

Tasty tasty $0.28 meal.
Though I do not approve of peas…
Roast chicken flavor is good as well.
EDIT: Hmm… I’ve noticed that as summer progresses and food becomes harder to locate my blog has become centered around food recommendations.

Here’s an abbreviated Myers-Briggs personality test that was surprisingly accurate for me (as accurate as a test of something as subjective as a person’s perception of his / her personality type can be…). If you enjoy silly internet quizzes this one should amuse you.

My Type
“[Her] greatest pleasure is making [her]self useful and taking care of other people.” Heh. Yup. The subjects of interest are also spot on, except for that astrology business.
Overall a very good personality analysis, including the weaknesses / things that get me into trouble.

Post your results for kicks and giggles :)

Good in Fruit Salad:
- Fuji Apples
- Cantaloupe
- Strawberries
- Banana
Better Eaten Immediately After Slicing:
Plums, peaches and pluots are delicious fresh and the juice adds a nice flavor to the mixture, but the fruit slices themselves get squishy and less delicious after 24 hours in the fridge. Stuff in the first list is fine for a couple days, provided you intend to eat it very soon. If not, then just get the questionable stuff in the cans instead of making your own. :P
I think next time I’ll add some red seedless grapes and see what happens… Cherries are in season right now, but they’re too expensive and high-effort (and mouth-watering on their own) to chop up and put in a bowl.

Warm summer outside.
Freezing cold inside my room.
I wear a hoodie.

This
Lackadaisy is a historical fiction set in St. Louis during the Prohibition era. The artist uses a mix of black humor, physical comedy and lovely art to tell an engrossing story that’s had me following her comic since 2006.
…Why are you still reading this and not the comic?!
Seriously, at least go look at some of the paintings in the gallery to humor me. Or buy me the book when it comes out. :)
