Summer Happened

Uhm.

Oh look a list!

  • I redecorated most of this house (my dad’s) with the help of my maternal grandma. 600 square feet of wallpaper is a lot. I also managed to get paint on my feet even on the days we were not painting. I am not quite sure how. The house is much brighter now, and Daddy is quite pleased.
  • I went to Norman three times and ate Tina’s food and slept on her floor. We saw Ratatouille with Seth, who came with me on the third trip.
  • I went to Joplin for a few days and ate Seth’s mom’s food (yum, lasagna) and slept in their guest bedroom. We went to Branson, where I got my first sunburn in years. The burn has since turned into a slightly less pale shade of Sam (with more freckles). After we got back from Branson I hung around and helped Seth pack for his Niger trip and prepare his craft for the Bible school lesson he gave to the children there.
  • I went shopping for girlier clothes on a whim and came out of the store with two large bags. I now own more than t-shirts and jeans.
  • I was a waitress, then I wasn’t, then I was again, and now I’m not again. The drama did not involve me directly, but did not make for a pleasant work atmosphere. I exited quietly.
  • I haven’t had caffeine in a couple of weeks and do not miss it. I’m pretty happy with water, so I might as well stick to that. Of course, I reserve the right to change this behavior once midterms hit and I need mochas to keep from sleeping whenever I stop moving.
  • I stared at loading pages a lot, because dial-up is slow. I discovered that Youtube videos load at approximately 1 hour per 3 minutes of video. At least this is a free trial.
  • I shopped for groceries weekly, because it doesn’t matter that Wal-Mart is 20 miles away. I NEED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. *twitch*
  • I read and enjoyed the seventh Harry Potter book. It’s strange that the series is over now, since I’ve been reading them for about 10 years. I was never really into them, but I like the series.
  • It rained a lot, but my area did not experience the flooding that other places did. I am thankful for that. Now we just have an unusual abundance of mosquitoes.
  • I got a new phone when I renewed my Cingular contract. The Nokia 6102i is quite nice and has good call quality. I like it. The fact that it was free and came with Bluetooth goodies helps even more.
  • I go back to Norman on August 5th to start fall RA training. I got the floor I requested (Honors 2), which makes me happy. My first residents will move in around the 15th, and class starts the 20th. I am looking forward to this. I’ll spend the rest of this week packing and seeing my relatives one more time before I go.

So that was summer. Time for school!
