Sensory Overload

EDIT:  Sat in the back, made a new friend, allergies are happy. And complaining is silly. :P

So I’m not sure what type of cologne or perfume has been assulting my allergies this week, but whatever it is it’s popular. And horribly strong. And it doesn’t fade with time, either.

For example: For the past 3 class periods in American Federal Government I have been seat-hopping, trying to find a place where my nose will not be bombarded with the stink of MysteryCologne. I have failed thus far. Today was especially fun… My bronchial tubes started closing up and the chalkboard was starting to do a bit of a dance, in addition to the headache and runny nose. Yay. I’ll be sitting near the exit from now on for easy escape purposes, I think.

On a much happier (and fluffier) note: Pillow!
For those of you that I have not already shown the pillow.

Hi Apartment

I’m back at OU, enjoying the nice little apartment and the high speed internet (and the company of people my own age ^_^). The trip here was uneventful, which is good for trips when your truck is packed to the brim with stuff necessary for moving…and a bike, which did *not* fall out of the truck.

The first week of class went fine. My professors all seem to be pretty cool people, so that will make classes more interesting. I even like my American Federal Government class so far, even though I usually dislike social science classes.

And I officially heart Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. My roommates heart Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. And Mr. Clean Magic Erasers heart you too.

Church Camp and College Time, Yay

I spent the past week somewhere in the wilds of Missouri1 at college age church camp. Camp was such a good experience; I’m thrilled that I got the chance to go.  I’d never been to church camp before (due to various difficulties whenever the opportunity arose when I was younger), so I was happy to get the opportunity to attend college age church camp with Seth’s church group. College age camp is a lot less structured than church camp for younger kids, but the emphasis is still on building your relationship with God and making friends with your fellow campers. We had morning devotions (by yourself time reading the day’s Bible chapter) followed by small group discussions, and an evening worship service with a speaker and some small group discussions after that.2 The rest of the day we spent just hanging out with our new friends.
The food was…well…camp food. But the cabins / dormitories were air conditioned and clean, and there were plenty of showers and whatnot for use. Not quite enough outlets for a girl’s restroom, though. I’ve never seen that many curlers and straighteners in my life.
Missouri is a lot cooler and much less humid than Oklahoma. I giggled a little whenever the other campers complained about it being “hot” at camp, just because the heat index was often 10-15F less there than it was in OK.
I also got a new Bible at a Christian Book Outlet in Joplin. I wanted to give the NIV a try, since KJV can be a little tiring to read and translate into modern day English. New Bible = wub. Now I just need to keep an eye out for a nice (preferably pretty and blue) cover to protect it.

On another note, I leave for OU next Monday (August 14th). Vacation is nice, but I’m ready to see my friends and roomies. I’m also looking forward to the start of class. Most of the courses I’m taking this semester sound pretty interesting. I’m really looking forward to Spanish. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology also sound interesting. American Federal Government is required to graduate, sadly. And the RA class should be a good place to make more new friends, since the enrollment for this semester is fairly small.
So this next semester should be nice.
This week = packing and getting ready to stuff the entire contents of my apartment into my little truck. I think I need to go to the dentist too… *ponders other things that need doing*

1. I was very lost by the time we got there, so you’ll have to settle for a vague location. I don’t know Missouri very well.
2. We studied the first 6 chapters of Daniel, for those of you who would like to know. I recommend reading them…The stories are well known, but definitely worth another look.
