Summer
Well, I am back in Muldrow again, and have been for a little over a week now. A few things have happened, so this blog entry will be somewhat of a summary. And those of you who frequent my deviantART account will recognize some of this since I am being a bit lazy.
I gave into an urge to spend money last Friday (a rare happening) and bought some Prismacolor pencils. I got a case of 12, and a few other individual pencils in shades that I use quite a bit. (I use a surprising amount of brown…)
I wub them. Wub, I tell you! They have soft leads that lay down a nice even color layer without me having to practically stab the paper as I did with my old Crayola colored pencils. Crayola's fine, mind you, but these new pencils are a great improvement.
I also purchased two pads of drawing paper, one of which is called Bristol paper. It has a very smooth finish and is quite a bit thicker than the stuff I'm used to using. It will be for my "special" drawings that I will want to keep for a long time or give away.
I have no scanner access currently, but I am plotting. If my plotting fails or proves too much trouble, I'll just bring a pile of drawings back to Norman to scan later.
We had a bit of an adventure on the colored pencil shopping trip. We (my mom, grandma, and I) took the old blue car to town instead of my mom's truck to have a bit more room. My mom was just getting over a cold and did not want to contaminate my grandma and I, so she sat in back and I drove. Our trip went smoothly until we were heading back home. Friday was a rather toasty day, so we had the air conditioner running on high. Big mistake when dealing with the old blue car. It decided that enough was enough and died at a busy stop light in Ft. Smith, AR. After repeated attempts to start the car failed, and after several changes of the light, one of my grandma's friends happened to pull up beside us and offered to help. He was recovering from a recent knee surgery and could not help push, but he provided some car knowledge and poked car's engine after my mom, a random nice woman who pulled over and helped, and I pushed the car to a side street. Yay for random people stopping to help other random people! After the car had cooled for about 20 minutes my grandma managed to get it started, and the rest of the trip home passed without any unpleasant happenings.
Also! My real life friend Ryan got a cool scholarship and I am proud of him. If you are in Houston this summer you should wave in the direction of NASA, since he will be working there again. :D
